Rich Mehta: Web Developer

No Description

Gloucestershire Media Group: Before we get started, how do you like your tea?
Rich Mehta: Milk with no sugar please. And tea. I’ll need some tea in there too.

GMG: So tell us what Mehta Web is all about?
RM: Mehta Web (which is run by me, Rich Mehta) is all about building great websites and web apps that meet and exceed our customer’s expectations. That could be anything from a Facebook page all the way up to a full ecommerce website. It’s about delivering that and great customer service (something my industry suffers with at times) all in one.

As with any business it’s not just about me; it’s about the companies who I work with to build these products. I’ve spent a long time sourcing good, local partners who have just as high a commitment to the quality and integrity of their work as I do.

GMG: Where did it all begin?
RM: Mehta Web began just over a year ago in 2010. I’d been working in web development a while by that point but it just seemed the right time; a large project came up and I just went for it.

GMG: How are things going? Do you have any news?
RM: Things are going better than I’d have ever anticipated. I’m working with some amazing people (both suppliers and clients) and really getting the opportunity to work on some great projects in areas as diverse as Waste Management, Extreme Sports Events and Social Media.

The big news (for me, at least) is I’ll be rebuilding the website over the coming months. I’m working together with one of my design partners (Andy over at Jealous Design) to make something extra special…

GMG: What does the future hold for you and the team at Mehta Web?
RM: I’m going to continue working with great people and delivering easy to use websites to make the web a generally better place. I’ve recently made a commitment to myself to spend some of my time each week trying to give something back to the creative community; whether that’s just commenting on blog posts or putting my skills to work for a good cause.

GMG: How do you get advertisers for your website?
RM: I tend to shy away from adverts on my website for obvious reasons. I think adverts, as they stand, do a lot to get in the way of a usable, enjoyable Internet. How often do we go to a website with a horrible banner that just starts playing obnoxious music or covers a load of text, for example?

That said, advertising has a place on the web. I just think it has a long way to go from here before it adds value rather than subtracting it.

GMG: Is there anything else we should know about? Anything you’d like to plug?
RM: Well, given the opportunity I’d love to offer my services to anyone who could benefit from a new website! I’m currently doing a 10% off offer on bespoke Facebook Pages too, so if anyone quotes this article I’ll happily oblige.
