Dave Boon

Director
Responsible for: Web development, technical resolutions Dave’s background is primarily technical. Having started out in finance for a County Council, he quickly realised that he was much more interested in the technical side of computers and took on more and more of those duties within his role. This led to an IT Support position at games creator Psygnosis, where he gained valuable experience both in the technical areas required for the role, but also about working in a smaller private company. From here he moved to a larger company dealing with products of a highly secure nature, which immersed him in a world of protocols and strict procedures, and he gained valuable experience in many areas of IT hardware and software. Whilst within this role, Dave developed an interest in maintaining the company’s Intranet system, and his love of programming for the web was born. He subsequently moved to a new company – a small web agency, which was a huge learning curve. However it was here that he learnt much about web best practices and gained much technical knowledge and experience. This enabled him to gain a contract at a Gloucester based branding agency, where he was quickly promoted to the leader of the web team – overseeing the budgets, deadlines, development quality and client liaison for a number of clients, most notably Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. This agency decided to downsize by 80% in January 2009, and both Dave and Adam decided that their skills dovetail neatly, and have formed Octopi Design.

Adam Hesketh

Responsible for: Creativity, design & marketing After four years at college studying Typographic Design, Adam went on to work as a Junior Graphic Designer in the marketing department for Beatties’ head office. This seventy strong model and hobby retailer was to prove quite an eye opener for him. During the four years of service at Beatties, Adam gained experience in the following areas: design and art-working, print buying, promotion planning, advertising, photography, copy writing and visual merchandising. All of which helped gain him the promotion to Design and Marketing Manager within two years. The experience gained at Beatties was to be a massive help for the future and one which he would be able to build on. After he left there, Adam went on to work for several small design agencies – all of which had very impressive blue chip clients including: Coca-Cola GB (and Europe), De Beers, Diageo, Minolta Cameras, Volkswagen and Walkers Crisps. The agency he was working for decided to downsize by 80% in January 2009, and both Dave and Adam decided that their skills dovetail neatly, and have formed Octopi Design.
