Gloucester Guildhall is the venue for the official launch of local musicians Chris Nicholson and Paul Print’s World Cup single SexyFootballBack/England. The pair, calling themselves the DiamondFormation, wrote the song to support England and raise awareness and money for Alive & Kicking, a charity that employs adults in Kenya and Zambia to make sports balls for donation to African orphanages, refugee camps and schools.

Lining up at the Guildhall alongside the DiamondFormation will be football freestyle star Colin Nell giving a demonstration of his talents and showing how to do freestyle football tricks. There is also the opportunity to watch England’s final World Cup warm up game against Japan on the cinema screen. Entry is free and doors open at 12:30pm, the England game begins at 1:15pm, and the event ends at 3:30pm.

Chris, who last week was in Kenya visiting an Alive & Kicking stitching factory, says: “This Sunday should be a fun day for everyone. Football, music, a café, food… what could be better? We’re hoping people like the single and buy it. In Kenya I saw some of what Alive & Kicking do, and the progress really opened my eyes. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I certainly didn’t expect the airy, spacious working conditions. Football is a universal language – like music – and Alive & Kicking is attempting to create a football legacy in Africa, and it is great to be able to contribute in this way.”
