Joe Meek was the flamboyantly gay, tone deaf, songwriter-producer behind hits like ‘Just Like Eddie,’ ‘Johnny, Remember Me’ and ‘Telstar’. In his shambolic recording studio he created genuine musical alchemy before drugs and madness brought about his spectacular demise. This tune-filled dramatisation of his rise and fall amid the seamy 60s London music scene features a starry cast including Kevin Spacey as the money man and James Corden as the Tornadoes’ hapless drummer. Finally Newent’s most famous son gets his due.
