A couple of iNets events are coming up over the next few months so we thought it would be best to share them with you:

1.Think Future Now

No Description

Recently launched at Paintworks in Bristol Think Future Now has been set up to help businesses become more sustainable, work smarter and reduce their environmental footprint.

The launch had a great turn out with a very lively and informed session that highlighted the issues proven by the actions that are happening in Bristol, and made the big picture alarmingly clear – a commitment to 50% emissions reduction by 2025. There has been a change of tone in the last year, with sustainable production changing from a “nice to have’ to being central for forward-thinking business. Big change is coming, and it’s time to get ready.

It’s clear there’s plenty to do – and Think Future Now will run for 9 months to help get things up to speed in Bristol. The Think Future Now website is a key information source, so do comment and develop the stories. More events will be held in order to hear the success stories, meet people who are making it work, and develop the collaborations, and we’ll provide an expert facilitator to come into your company, and help you start the process.

2.Future of Publishing Conference

No Description

The publishing sector is facing unprecedented challenges: rapid advances in technology, free content, new competitors – to name but a few. How can we use innovation to create new opportunities and sources of income? This unique conference will showcase pioneering new work, providing insight into the future and exploring potential new revenue streams. Prominent thinkers and doers will spark debate and demonstrate their cutting-edge projects, supported by expert panels, the latest research, and publishing innovators.

The Future of Publishing conference is the culmination of a programme of activity which kicked off in May with the first UK Book Hackday and the launch of BookHackers, an online community for writers, publishers, hackers and designers to develop new projects.

This is your chance to play an active role in a programme that will help shape our publishing and media futures – and if you have ideas you want to contribute to the programme please contact info@mediafutures.org.uk.

Save the date – 6 October 2011 – and join the mailing list from the Media Futures home page to be kept up to date.

The Future of Publishing programme is produced in partnership with Cyprus Well, and supported by the Creative Industries iNet, which is part of the Government’s Solutions for Business portfolio, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and led by South West Screen.
