Stephen Gray, Chair of Judges for the Media and Innovation Awards and Creative Director at Stickee, said: “While the purpose of the Media Innovation Awards (MIAs) is to promote and reward new achievers in the South West, it shouldn’t be forgotten that the ongoing success of the awards themselves is an achievement in its own right.
“I’ve been in the new media sector for over 15 years and have judged other national awards, alongside the judging of the MIAs, for the last five years. Every year I see work that really makes me think, gives me inspiration and excites me. The creativity and production quality of the winning pieces of work is testament to the success the region is clearly having at both retaining and encouraging new innovation and talent.”
This group of leading innovators was selected by an independent judging panel made up of 12 creative industry professionals.
The Media & Innovation Awards were part-funded by the Creative Industries iNet (Innovation Network), a programme of support designed to help the South West’s creative businesses thrive and advance the region’s growing reputation as a global creative centre of excellence. The Creative Industries iNet is part of the Government’s Solutions for Business portfolio, funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and led by South West Screen.
This year’s headline sponsors were global technology giant Sony; sector enhancement programme the Creative Industries iNet; and the University of Plymouth.
