The Search is on for Apprentices in the Creative Media Industries. Some of the south west’s biggest media companies are helping to pioneer a new pathway into the highly competitive Creative Media Industries with Skillset’s Advanced Apprenticeship in Creative and Digital Media.
The south west has been chosen to host a pilot of the revolutionary Skillset Apprenticeship, which puts a 21st-century twist on the old apprenticeship model and will change the way young people find their way into a media career.
Please note that this is a great opportunity not only for young people who are looking for employment, but also for employers to find fresh talent and valuable additions to their teams.
Applications are now open for young people wanting to enter the creative media industries by working as an apprentice for a company while receiving the traiining their employer needs. Employers who would like to take on an apprentice are also invited to become involved in this pilot.

So far employers BBC Bristol, Gloucestershire-based filmmakers Halo Films and Plymouth-based media company Twofour, have all committed to taking on apprentices as part of the pilot programme. This covers a wide range of media roles, from computer programming to TV production.
Cirencester Media Academy works with these employers to provide the skills which apprentices need in order to fulfil their job role and to complete the apprenticeship.
Andy Freedman, Head of the Media Academy said, ‘This is a great opportunity for young people keen to enter the Creative Media Industries. They will learn in two ways,: through gaining ‘on the job’ experience and learning skills their company needs from industry experts’.
The scheme provides an alternative entry route to the industry, allowing apprentices to earn a basic wage while combining work in the industry with academic learning and will lead to a Level 3 Certificate in Creative and Digital Media.
