Whose Data? Project Calls For Applicants
Knowle West Media Centre would like to invite eight artists / designers / filmmakers to take part in Whose Data?, an innovative week-long exploration of the data a community generates, how it can be creatively visualised, and how the community can take ownership of the information produced.
Four of the artists / designers / filmmakers will then be selected for four x £4000 residencies.
KWMC are looking for artists / designers / filmmakers interested in a collaborative exploration of playing with live data to benefit the local community. A current example of this within the Knowle West Community is www.electricfootprint.co.uk which enables local residents to see how much electricity they are using and compare it with their neighbours’ use by producing a creative visualisation of the data.
KWMC will provide all the data and the technical expertise in how to manipulate it – all you have to do as an artist / designer / filmmaker is find a creative way to interpret it.
Applicants should:
- Practice in any media – you don’t have to have had any previous experience of working with live data / digital media
- Have a commitment to working collaboratively and experimentally
- Want to develop their socially engaged practice
- Be excited and inspired by the possibilities Whose Data? offers
