The Brown Jug becomes first Cheltenham Pub to offer a special to its Foursquare Mayor – a free steak every week

The Brown Jug, Bath Road, Cheltenham is the first Cheltenham pub to offer a ‘Foursquare Special’ for its Mayor. Whoever is the Foursquare Mayor of The Brown Jug on Monday of each week will receive a free steak. The offer starts on Monday 12 July. The Mayor is a player on Foursquare who has ‘checked-in’ to a venue more often than anyone else.

Foursquare (see foursquare.com for more info) has great potential for businesses to increase their customers and sales. Foursquare is a rapidly growing mobile ‘app’ that allows people to ‘check-in’ to venues such as restaurants, cafés, coffee shops, pubs, bars, shops, gyms, cinemas – anywhere where people meet.

Pubs and other venues in Cheltenham and Gloucester have been added to the network by their customers yet most business owners are unaware that their customers are checking-in and playing Foursquare. They are missing out on a great marketing opportunity.

By offering a special for its Foursquare Mayor, Matt Birch, landlord of The Brown Jug hopes that Foursquare players will visit his pub more often as they compete to become Mayor. The person who visits most will receive a steak as well the kudos of becoming the Mayor of The Brown Jug.
