No Description BBC Video Nation Network offers a platform for anyone interested in filmmaking to share their videos relating to BBC Campaigns, Seasons and News themes. Content is featured online but can also be used for TV broadcast or City CentreBig Screens. This year we are looking to recruit a pool of regular voluntary contributors for our Youth Video, Weather and Olympic 2012 Communities features. This would involve producing a series of short films that can either feature yourself or a contributor(s) of your choice.

We are unable to cover costs or provide equipment. We can offer a limited number of free workshop sessions plus provide production advice and ultimately hope to nurture your filmmaking talent. In the long term we hope to offer training and networking days to our regular contributors, along with a Skill Set talent initiative for ‘outstanding’ films. The editorial brief for features is as follows:

Weather Starting in September 2010, this feature charts the experiences of a range of people whose lives are closely connected to the weather (for example a city farmer, sportsperson, fisherman, horse trainer, gardener etc). As a regular contributor you would be required to follow the experiences of one person in a series of short films that span the changing seasons.

Olympic 2012 Communities Examining the impact of the 2012 Olympics on communities and individuals across the country. As a regular contributor you could follow the experiences of one person and/or a community in a series of short films. We would ideally expect 1-3 films to be produced over 12 months, but are of course flexible. Ongoing submissions.

Youth Video What does it mean to be young in Britain today? Video Nation Network would like to partner with young filmmakers around the country to explore this question. The aim is to publish a set of films that give voice to a diverse range of issues, painting a powerful portrait of the issues facing the next generation, as told in their own words. Ongoing submissions.
