Gloucestershire Companies Prove Tough Competition
Has anyone seen the December (09) edition of South West Business Magazine? If not, then you missed out on a great one!
Insider (Dec 09) features two fabulous articles about the success of the creative industry in Gloucestershire and how it is fighting back against the recession.
The first article focuses on the success of the Bristol Media Group and the Gloucestershire Media Group. Editor Michael Ribbeck writes, ‘The city (Bristol) is now firmly established on the national and international radar-screens as being a core centre for the creative and media sector’ – as opposed to an earlier time when the city was considered a ‘graveyard for careers’. He continues, ‘But Bristol isn’t the only creative success story in the region. Gloucestershire Media Group, a not-for-profit umbrella organisation, has seen its membership grow year-on-year, reaching an estimated 800.’ Anna Krenkova (GMG Director) explains that “many freelancers, micro-businesses and bigger companies based in Gloucestershire source a lot of their work from Bristol, Birmingham or the capital and the area is thriving because of a pool of talent whose costs are often lower than those of other bigger companies” (that’s you GMG’ers… just in case you hadn’t caught on).
GMG members Vivid PR, Third Floor Design, Montpellier Group and Target also get a special mention really raising the profile of Gloucestershire based creative businesses.
So keep up the good work and we’ll update you as to other articles that are based on your success!
All in all, a pretty victorious year… bring on 2010!
