Gloucester Guildhall & The GMG Film Event
This season of films kicks off on Friday 9th October at 7.30pm and is introduced by the director himself, Tony Palmer; one of the leading directors of music documentaries and historical drama films in the world. His hundred or so films have won scores of international prizes including a BAFTA and two Prix d’Italia. Gloucester Guildhall are privileged to welcome him again to the Guildhall to present three of his acclaimed biographies of 20th century composers.
The first being… Malcolm Arnold – A Story of Survival ‘Toward the Unknown Region’.
This documentary – originally made for the South Bank Show – celebrates one of Britain’s most underestimated and yet most popular composers. Sir Malcolm was a prolific writer of film scores, ballets, symphonies and operas. He also suffered from mental illness and alcoholism which cast a shadow over much of his life.
So come on over to the Guildhall on Friday 9th October at 7.30pm and meet the man himself, Director Tony Palmer!
