GMG Member Wins The And/Or Book Awards Logo Competition!
The original And/Or Book Awards Logo was first hand drawn by the legendary artist David Hockney. Now, our very own GMG Member Brian Anderson (remember the name because it’ll be worth something in the future) has become a living legend in securing the winning spot for the 2010 And/Or Book Awards Animated Logo Competition."
The And/or Book Awards invited students currently enrolled at a college or university to enter the competition to animate their new logo. Brian had recently successfully complete training in 2D Animation through The GMG (in association with Gloucestershire College) taught by tutor Bryan Panks.
Soon enough Brian stumbled upon the And/Or Competition tender for submissions on our website and decided he was confident enough to apply… little did he know that he would win First Prize and become the one lucky enough to spend a day with David Hockney at his studio in Bridlington.
An addition to this prize was a screening of the animated logo at the BFI South Bank to introduce the prize ceremony for the 2009 And/Or Book Awards.
The competition was judged by David Hockney CH RA, David Sproxton CBE, (co-founder and co-owner of Aardman Films), and Amanda Nevill ( Director British Film Institute). The First prize was awarded to Brian because he was able to produce the best and most original animation of the David Hockney logo.
Many thanks also to the Kraszna-Krausz Foundation that funds the book award, and DH Hockney logo competition.
Check out some of Brian’s other works at Pebble Cubes and Pots and Sculptures.
From all of us here at The GMG we would like to say Many Congratulations to Brian.
