Do you want an Accelerator in Gloucester? Let us know and win a ticket to SWF!
Would you be interested in taking up a desk at the Gloucester Docks Accelerator? The GMG in partnership with Gloucester City Council and Marketing Gloucester are looking to set-up another Accelerator on the 4th floor of Alexandra Warehouse. It’s a great city centre location set within the vibrant waterside quarter of the city’s docks. The offer and rates will be similar to the Cheltenham Accelerator. You’ll be able to rent a fully serviced desk, including business rates, broadband, business support and advice, electricity and heating, use of meeting rooms and much more.
Over to you….
Let us know what you think about the location, the area, the city, the idea in general. Would you be interested in taking-up a desk? Do you think the Gloucester Docks is the place to be? We want to know it all, good or bad.
Please let us have your comments in the comments box below by Friday, 23 October. Out of all comments we will draw one name who will win a 2-day ticket to next week’s International Screenwriters’ Festival taking place at the Ladies College in Cheltenham.
I would definitly be interested in the Gloucester Accelerator – as a new company that is launching in January, then set up cost are very tight for me.
The company I am Gloucestershire 365 will be the first Conversation company to launch in the area. Through social media it will champion local business and empower Gloucestershires consumers. Powering economic growth and keeping business local.
We are very interested in a Creative Quarter in Gloucester.
I think the idea of flexible office packages would be a more attractive proposition than ‘a desk in a room’, which is essentially what the Accelerator is. It is only really suitable for start-ups and sole traders.
We would be interested in a Creative Quarter that could help nurture start ups and offer private studio space for more established local creative business.
I’ve been down to the Paintworks (http://www.paintworksbristol.co.uk/) in Bristol on several occasions and find the set up very impressive with a great buzz of small individual designers and artists mixed in with bigger established studios in a contemporary setting. I’ve also seen this working really well in Quartier 21 in Vienna amongst the Museum Quarter (http://quartier21.mqw.at/structure/).
A great setting with an eclectic mix of creativity, cafe culture, tourism and business.
There is no reason why this can’t work as part of the redevelopment of Gloucester Docks.
The opportunity to be in a shared space as a sole trader working out of my home currently or with clients their venues has plenty of appeal. The networking, professional space and joint ventures could help my enterprise reach greater profitability sooner.
Considering travel time, congestion (traffic), additional expense of a new venue elsewhere, especially with the added responsibility of young children, their schooling and social schedule is making current arrangements ‘sticky’.
I’d love to win the tickets to ‘get mixing’ especially as I’m tasked with writing a video script in the next few days for planned recorded interviews….
We would definately be interested in an accelerator, we are a relatively new company and are setting up everything at home at the moment but having office space would be much better!
It would be great to share a space with others doing the same thing and helping each other out.
If any more information arises about this please do contact me.
sorry…dont know how that posted 5 times!
I would definitely consider renting office space at Gloucester Docks if the rent was reasonable.
The idea of working in the same building as other creative professionals is also a bonus.
The Council seem to be doing a great job of renovating the Docks area too.
Thanks for the opportunity to win tickets for the Screenwriting Festival. I’ve written articles for Cotswold Life and have some ideas for films, so I would be really grateful for the chance to attend and learn more about scriptwriting.
